At the end of this lesson, students should be able to arrange decimals in ascending or descending order.

Ordering decimals means, arranging decimal numbers in an organized manner. Decimals can be arranged in ascending or descending order.

With the knowledge from comparing decimals, you can identify the largest decimal number in a list, the next larger decimal, smallest, etc.

__Example 1__

*Order the following decimal numbers from the least to greatest.*

1) 15.212, 8.921, 10.834, 12.358

2) 15.212, 15.921, 15.871, 15.213, 15.717

__Solution__

1) 15.212, 8.921, 10.834, 12.358

Ans. → **8.921, 10.834, 12.358, 15.212**

2) 15.212, 15.921, 15.871, 15.213, 15.717

Ans. → **15.212, 15.213, 15.717, 15.871, 15.921**

__Example 2__

*Arrange in descending order of size*

1) 0.3, 0.03, 0.25, 0.001, 0.1

Ans → **0.3, 0.25, 0.1, 0.03, 0.001**

2) 5.214, 8.762, 5.84, 9.76, 0.992

Ans → **9.76, 8.762, 5.84, 5.214, 0.992**
