Lesson 5 – Multiplying Three Digit Numbers By Two Digit Numbers

Objective:

At the end of this lesson, students should be able to multiply three digit numbers by two digit numbers.

Example 1

234 times 1 unit gives 234. 234 times 5 tens gives 11700. Add the two products for your final answer which is 11934. In multiplying two digit by two digit numbers, the number on the right or the units place is used first to multiply before using the number on the left or the tens place. The first answer for the second multiplication is placed under the number multiplying and a zero is places at the end.
