Lesson 4 – Writing Numbers That Satisfy Given Parameters

Objective:

At the end of the lesson, students should be able to write numbers that satisfy given parameters.

Example 1:  Write a 6 digit number with 3 in the thousands place, 4 in the hundreds place and 1 in the units place. (This question is an open ended question, several answers could be correct)
Solution

  • 4 0 3 4 0 1
  • 7 6 3 4 8 1
  • 9 0 3 4 5 1

ALL THREE ANSWERS ABOVE ARE CORRECT

Example 2:  Fred thinks of a 7- digit number, the number has 9 in the ten thousands place, 0 in the tens place, 1 in the thousands place and 7 in the units place. What could Fred’s number be?

Solution

  • 6 4 9 1 3 0 7
  • 7 0 9 1 0 0 7
  • 8 6 9 1 8 6 7

ALL THREE ANSWERS ABOVE ARE CORRECT, THEY ALL HAVE 7-DIGITS PLACED IN THE SPECIFIED PLACES.
