Materials

Objectives:

At the end of this lesson, students should be able to know the days of the week off hand as well as the months of the year.

Most of us go to school from Monday to Friday. These are called week days.

There are five week days in each week and two days that make the weekend. These weekend days are Saturday and Sunday.

There are seven (7) days in a week. These are;

On the average, there are 4 weeks in a month. However, some months do have extra days.

There are 12 months in a year. These are;

January                      July

February                    August

March                         September

April                            October

May                             November

June                             December.

The calendar is a chart which shows the days, weeks and months of a particular year.

On the calendar, the month of January may look like this

Each month has a number of days.

Study the table below carefully.

From the table above, it can be observed that, February has 28 and 29 written beside it. This is because, it regularly has 28 days and 29 days whenever there is a leap year.

A leap year is a year which occurs every four years with 266 days. In a leap year, February has 29 days instead of its regular 28.

*Learn this poem. It will be of help.*
