Lesson 2 – Number Of Digits In A Given Number

Objectives

At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

• Read and write numbers in figures up to 9999.
• Know the number of digits in a given number.

A number in the thousands should have four digits. Examples are 4007, 3981, 7050, 2120, 1000, etc.

A number in the hundreds should have three digits. Examples are 450, 631, 900, 800, etc.

A number in tens should have two digits. Examples are 45, 63, 10, 20, 15, etc.

Example 1

Write the following numbers in figures.

1. One thousand nine hundred and five = 1905
2. Twenty nine = 29
3. One thousand two hundred and five = 1205
