Objectives

At the end of this lesson, students should be able to divide a decimal number by another decimal.

Consider the number line below. How many times is 0.4 contained in 1-2?

  • We can see that 0.4 is contained in 1.2 three (3) times.
  • The division methods can also be used to solve this question as follows:

 and any number multiplied by 1 remains the same without a change in value).

Based on this understanding, decimals can be multiplied by other decimals by following a few steps as follows
